Newark Composite Doors offer GRP composite doors and Solid Core composite doors.
As standard, the doors on our online door designer are GRP Composite doors.
GRP or Glass Reinforced Plastic (fibreglass) Composite Doors have been around since the 1990s and are typically filled with foam, making them highly thermally efficient.
The outer layer of a GRP Composite Door is made of two GRP skins bonded to a solid frame which is then filled with insulation which is usually a high-density foam. Unfortunately, due to this foam, the door slab currently cannot be recycled.
You can upgrade your new door to a Solid Core composite door for an additional £200 (including VAT) on top of the price shown on our online door designer.
As Solid Core Doors are mainly made of timber, the door slabs are around twice as heavy as a foam-filled GRP Door. This also makes for a much higher strength door slab.
Solid Core Doors are the preferred choice of door by the vast majority of insurance companies.
Solid Core Doors are also more environmentally friendly as they are mainly made from wood and can be recycled at the end of their life.
We can also offer a wider range of door designs and colours for our Solid Core composite doors, including arched composite doors and double composite doors.
If you would like to upgrade your door to a Solid Core composite door, please discuss this with our surveyor during your survey.
